Fly Bair

Fly Bair is a Swiss start-up that will soon begin flights out of Bern Airport (an airport just to the south of the capital of Switzerland, Bern). It has ordered an Embraer E190 and will begin flights to Greece, Spain and Italy this month. After Sky Work Airlines’s bankruptcy in 2018, this is the 1st private airline to be operating at the airport. During over a year, only Helvetic Airways (a small subsidiary of Swiss International Airlines) and People’s (an Austrian charter airline based at St Gallen Altenrhein Airport in Switzerland) have been operating flights out of the airport. Recently, ChAir (formerly Germania Flug, a Swiss charter airline based at Zurich International Airport) has begun to fly to Calvi (a city in Corsica) out of Bern Airport. In 2018 , traffic at Bern Airport went down by 17.1 %, an enormous crush for the Swiss Aviation industry, which has been suffering particularly badly these past few years. Fly Bair is only the 2nd start-up of the year, with OTT Airlines (a Chinese airline based at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport). There is still a small hope that there will be some start-ups this year.
