Ryanair has reported a €185 million loss in Q1 of this year and a 99% fall in traffic in what the LCC said was “the most challenging (year) in Ryanair’s 35 year history”. The airline declared the state aid received by flag carriers as “illegal”, because of the disadvantage that non-government owned airlines have as they can’t receive state aid, adding that this would effect competition over the next few years. It also said that “air travel in Europe is likely to be depressed for at least the next 2 or 3 years”. This is undeniably true. Ryanair will complete the sale of 7 of its oldest Boeing 737s during this winter, as previously announced. 28th of July 2020.
