The European Commission has approved the use of €19.3 million ($22’746’000) in state aid by TAROM (the Romanian flag carrier) to recover from the negative financial effects of the coronavirus on its business. This is mainly to cover the financial damage that the airline suffered from travel restrictions. The granted state aid will not go above the losses that TAROM suffered from the period of the 16th of March to the 30th of June. According to the Romanian transport ministry, TAROM will have a net loss of €65 million ($70’716’000) by the end of this year, compared to last year’s €35 million ($41’251’000). How this airline stays alive, I don’t know. 6th of October 2020.
